Custom firmware is needed to change DHCP gateway, default and telnet connection. There is another important feature of this firmware – this is the change of IMEI to any other (telephone), such a feature will save on the tariff plans of mobile operators, because the device type is detected precisely by IMEI. All further actions are performed under Windows.

1) Determine the installed firmware version.

Find out the current firmware version for installing the transitional one. To do this, run the DC Unlocker program, then click on the magnifying glass button and find the Firmware line in the result window, we need the last digits;

I have a fairly common modem here M150-2 from Megafon
. This modem is similar to MTS-ovsky 827F/829F
, as well as modems from Beeline and Tele2, with the name “E3372”. ( Beeline E3372/E3370, TELE2 E3372h-153
). In fact, this is the Huawei E3372 modem, which all operators buy from the Chinese, brand, and sell as their own. Of course, at the firmware level, blocking the operation of SIM cards from other operators.

My client did not like the megaphone with expensive tariffs, and somewhere in Moscow he bought such a SIM card from the NetByNet WiFire operator. Naturally, the modem did not want to work with this SIM card.

So, my instruction is suitable for all modems from this list:

• Beeline E3372/E3370
• TELE2 E3372h-153
• Megaphone М150-2
• MTS 827F/829F

For other modems, the firmware principle is the same, but you will have to look for other firmware files.

Do I need to flash the modem to unlock it for all SIM cards?

I will please those who bought a modem a long time ago and who have an old firmware. You may be able to unlock it by simply typing a couple of commands in the terminal. Those who have modem serial number can also count on a quick unlock
starts on L8F. So lucky, I think, there will be more than half.

In any case, it never hurts to flash the modem, because with this you will pump it, i.e. get additional features and remove all restrictions. But more on that later.

Those who have a newer modem will have to flash it anyway.

I advise you to carefully check what you are doing, because there are a lot of subtleties here, which I will try to mention in the process. In any case, we, in fact, will hack the modem, so you do all the manipulations at your own peril and risk.

How to bypass operator restrictions?

This instruction will also be useful for those who need to change the IMEI on the modem, for example, in order to bypass various restrictions of mobile operators

Most likely, the reason is that you have a modem with a newer carrier firmware, which has improved protection against hacking. But don’t despair, there is a way! You just need to flash it with custom firmware
, where functions are unlocked, with the help of which you can not only change IMEI and unlock the modem for all SIM cards
, but also get access to a number of other additional functions of your modem.

Huawei e3372 modem types

I must say right away that there are two types of modems Huawei e3372
:

• E3372h
• E3372s

These modems need to be flashed in different ways, and with different firmware, so before doing anything, triple check which modem you have.

The easiest way to find out which modem you have is by looking at its serial number. For E3372h modems, the serial number starts with G4P, and for E3372s, it starts with L8F.

In this case, here I have Huawei e3372h with firmware from Megaphone, and I will show everything using it as an example, but I will also tell you how to flash E3372s.

I repeat once again, firmware for different types of modems are different
so be careful. If you flash with the wrong firmware, you will get a “brick”.

Modem firmware types

Also, it should be mentioned that there are two fundamentally different types of firmware
:

• HiLink
• Stick

I’ll briefly tell you how they differ.

Stick – firmware

• The modem is controlled by Windows OS.
• Internet is accessed through the so-called dashboard
  , i.e. special program for Internet access
• Modems from MTS and Megafon are supplied with this type of firmware
  .
• Version numbers
  stick firmware
  always starts with 21 – for example, 21.285.01.02.143

• Modems with HiLink firmware
  operate in router mode. Those. no software needs to be installed.
• The modem is configured through a special Web interface
  . In general, everything is as in ordinary routers. You do not need to enter the program from the modem every time and press “connect”. Everything is simpler – I plugged the modem into the computer, and the Internet went. No freezes.
• This type of firmware comes with modems from Beeline
  , as well as iotas
  .
• Version numbers
  hilink firmware always starts with 22 – for example, 22.286.03.00.00.

I will flash in HiLink
, since, firstly, Stick has speed limits
in 20-30 Mbps, and, secondly, HiLink is easier to connect to a home router
. And, thirdly, this type of firmware is more modern and convenient.

Of course, with the new firmware, the modem can be configured for SIM cards of any operators

How to unlock E3372 – collecting information about the modem.

Just in case, for the duration of the firmware , disable the antivirus
. If you have Kaspersky, then you may have to completely remove it, because for some reason our modem has big compatibility problems with Casper.

One moment – to download the file, you will need to install Yandex Disk, because. the number of jump attempts has long been exceeded.

The password for the archive is 123. Unpack the downloaded archive and look at its contents.

First of all, we open the Instructions file, we will fill it in as we collect information about the modem. You can collect this information by issuing commands to the so-called terminal. I will use Dc unlocker, but, just in case, I will also put another terminal in the archive to work with the modem.

Now we insert our modem into the laptop and wait for it to be determined.

Next, run DC Unlocker from the first folder. We press the magnifying glass, or in other words, the “identify modem” button. Here you can see all information about the modem. Now we are interested in the firmware version.

Also, specify your modem model again (E3372H and E3372S) with the AT^FHVER command.

Copy all the information, firmware version and IMEI to my pre-prepared file, which will be useful to us later. By the way, the version can also be found out with the AT^VERSION? command, and the IMEI is written on the modem itself. You can see all the necessary commands in the file from the archive.

By the way, according to the version, you can immediately find out the type of installed firmware.

Unlock modem E3372s, and E3372h with old firmware

So, look at your firmware version, and read on.

If you have an E3372S or E3372h modem with an older firmware version — (2x.180),
then consider yourself lucky. You can unlock the modem for all operators with the AT command:

Try this command in DC Unlocker. If the terminal answered OK – consider that the modem is unlocked for all SIM cards, you can rejoice. I advise, nevertheless, to flash into the modified HiLink firmware, because it is more flexible and has the advantages that I mentioned above. Well, here is your right. If you stay in the stick firmware, then you will need to use the HUAWEI Modem 3.0 program to access the Internet. It is also in the archive.

On newer versions of the modem firmware, such as mine, the terminal will most likely write ERROR.

If you have an E3372h modem with firmware version 2x.200.07 or higher (except 21.200.07.00.209),
then it’s more difficult. The fact is that AT commands are not supported in these firmware versions, and it is not so easy to unlock the modem. It will have to be stitched
.

E3372 modem firmware

During the first flashing of operator modems, the flasher will ask for a password. We can calculate this password in a special calculator. Let’s do it right now. We go to the “Calculator” folder, enter the IMEI we saved in advance, and we get the unlock codes. In this case, we are interested in FLASH code
. Copy this code to a file and move on.

First, disconnect the modem from the laptop.

Now is the time to delete everything related to your carrier from your computer
. We go into the installation and removal of programs, carefully look at the list and demolish all applications from a megaphone, mts or beeline.

Further instructions are different for different modems and firmware versions, so be careful.

How to flash the E3372h modem

I have an E3372h modem, and first I will tell you how to flash it using its example.

Have you already removed all the software from the modem? Let’s move on to the next step.

In it you need to install 3 drivers in order
from the appropriate folder. Let me remind you that the modem must be disconnected from the PC.

When all drivers are installed, the modem can be plugged back into the computer. If everything worked out, then HUAWEII Mobile connect – PC UI Interface will appear in the Device Manager, in the “Ports” section. This does not apply to modems where HiLink firmware is already installed, for example, on a beeline.

So, we have finished all the preparations. Now we can finally flash our modem. Once again carefully look at the modem firmware version!

If the firmware version in the modem is lower than 2x.200.15.xx.xx, or ends in .00 or .143:

Run the firmware file
E3372h-153_Update_22.323.01.00.143_M_AT_05.10
and follow the instructions on the screen. In the process, we enter the FLASH code we copied in advance (If asked).

After installation, a new “Remote NDIS” network adapter will appear in Device Manager.

Now it remains to flash the web interface
Update_WEBUI_17.100.13.01.03_HILINK_Mod1.10.

, otherwise you will get error 19. It is very simple to do this, open the DS unlocker, find our modem and enter the command AT^SFM=1.

If, after entering this command, instead of “OK”, the modem answers “ERROR”, then you don’t even have to try anymore – you apparently have a new modem, with the latest firmware, which has enhanced hacking protection. In other words, you are one of those four percent who this article will not help. However, do not be discouraged – there is a way out! You need to flash using the “needle method”, i.e. you will have to disassemble the modem and close certain contacts on the board. This is the topic of a separate article on compblog.ru. When I write it, I’ll leave a link here. In the meantime, the direction where to dig – consider I gave you.

And if the modem answered OK, then everything is fine. Now your modem can finally be flashed! Upload firmware E3372h-153_Update_22.323.01.00.143_M_AT_05.10

How to flash E3372s modem

I personally did not try to flash this modem, since I don’t have it, but I think you won’t have any difficulties, the actions are similar to the E3372h firmware, only the firmware files are different.

Setting up the modem’s Web interface.

So, you just flashed a brand new, modified Hi-Link firmware. But, before that, let’s unlock the modem for all sim cards!

You can do this with the command that we entered at the very beginning, but which gave you an Error last time, forcing you to flash the modem. So, once again run DC Unlocker, and enter the command:

now the firmware of our modem is unlimited – the terminal will display OK! Now our modem is unlocked for a SIM card of any operator! Let’s set it up!

To access the web interface of the modem, go to the browser and enter 192.168.8.1 in the address bar

You will see the Web interface. Try going to the “” tab and clicking “Connect”. If the Internet appears – great! If not, then you most likely need to set up an APN profile for your operator. Click the “” tab and click “Add Profile”.

Now enter the APN data corresponding to your operator. If you do not know what to enter, see here – a list of APN data.

We will flash and unlock for all operators the most popular modem from Huawei – E3372, which was purchased in bulk by Internet service providers, decorated with our own logo and sewn in individual hardware firmware, due to which one device can be labeled for different models, namely:

Differences of native firmware

There are two types of Huawei native firmware – E3372 and depending on your operator, they may differ by:

1. E3372h
2. E3372s

To understand what firmware you have, you need to look at the serial number of the modem “S\N”

Both versions are sewn differently and with certain firmware, which will be available in the archive for download.

How will we stitch?

There are two firmware platforms Stick
and Hilink
. The former interact with the modem through a special software client, such as Megafon Internet or MTS Connect Manager. The main disadvantage of Stick firmware is the speed limit of 20-30 Mb / s, and the client himself is often stupid, then the modem does not see, then the Internet will fall off at an unnecessary moment. If you plan to connect a usb modem to a router, then stick is not the best option, since the router may not recognize the modem, which will ultimately lead to endless dancing with a tambourine in search of a solution.

The latter make a kind of router out of the modem, access to which is carried out through the web interface (ip address of the device). Hilink has no speed limits and is easily synchronized with any router, for example, even a non-updated Zyxel router out of the box immediately recognizes the modem. Hilink has more flexible settings and is superior to stick in terms of reliability, so the conclusion is obvious.

Flash and Unlock!

Disable all antiviruses, connect the usb modem to the computer and install the native client application, native drivers will be installed along with it, this is necessary for the computer to recognize the modem. (If the drivers and software are already installed, skip this step).

I will flash the M150-2 modem with the e3372h firmware, if your modem is different, just follow my instructions and do everything by analogy.

Download and unpack the archive with the necessary files (I indicated the Link above). First of all, we are interested in the DC Unlocker program – a terminal program, with the help of it we will find out all the necessary information on our modem using AT commands.

Run the program (usb modem must be connected), click on the “Magnifying glass” icon to determine the modem. The terminal should output the following required information.

It is necessary to write down the following data, which will be useful to us in the future: Firmware version
and IMEI.

By the way, according to the firmware version, we determine which firmware platform is currently installed. If in the first value after the deuce there is a unit, then this is a stick, but rather than after the deuce there is 2 – Hilink.

As you can see, my firmware is e3372h.

After detecting the modem through dc unlocker, we could have found lucky ones who can unlock the modem for all SIM cards at once using the at command. I explain what the point is, the fact is that the E3372h or E3372s modems with the old firmware version are below 2_.200, starting with the following numbers 2_.180
have support for at commands by default.

If the firmware version is 2_.200.07
and above, then in any case we will have to flash the modem, since our firmware does not support AT unlock commands, my modem fits this description, so let’s move on.

During the firmware, the program may request a password, in order to calculate it, you must use the application from the Huaweicalc archive. Enter the IMEI of the modem, click “Calc”
and save Flash code
– it is the password.

5. Turn off the modem, there are three drivers in the archive with files. We install them one by one. MODEM MUST BE DISCONNECTED! After installing the drivers, connect the modem.

I remind you that at the moment I am flashing a modem – for e3372s the description will be given below, but you can see the flashing principle, it will not differ much from yours.

Now we need to understand which files are suitable for sewing a particular version of the firmware. Again we turn to the firmware version of the usb modem and compare it with the following description.

-If the modem has firmware 22.315.01.01.161 or 22.317.01.00.161, flash “E3372h-153_Update_21.180.01.00.00_M_01.10_for_.161.rar”
-If the firmware in the modem is 22.317.01.00.778, flash “E3372h-153_Update_21.180.01.00.00_M_01.10_for_.778.rar”
-If the firmware in the modem is 22.3xx.xx.xx.715, flash “E3372h-153_Update_21.180.01.00.00_M_01.10_for_.715.rar”

If you have flashed the firmware, then we will sew this “E3372h-153_Update_22.323.01.00.143_M_AT_05.10”.
Well, at the end we sew the web interface itself “Update_WEBUI_17.100.13.01.03_HILINK_Mod1.10”.

In my case, the modem firmware version 21.200.07.01.209 is lower than 2_.200.15.__.__, so I sew according to the instructions from the first rectangle.

I find the required firmware, unpack it and install it. After updating the firmware, new drivers will be automatically installed, the computer will detect a new device.

The next step is to flash the Web interface of my Hilink modem with firmware, you can also find it in the archive.

Open and install WEBUI, after that we drive in the ip address 192.168.8.1 in the search bar of the browser and get into the modem management interface, now we just have to unlock the modem for all operators.

Open DC Unlocker, press the magnifying glass, as soon as the modem is determined, type in the AT command: at^nvwrex=8268,0,12,1,0,0,0,2,0,0,0,a ,0,0,0 OK – the modem is unlocked.

The next time the modem is detected in DC Unlocker, a message will appear with the line: SIM Lock status – unlocked, this means that our modem works with all SIM cards.

E3372S Firmware Manual

The principle of stitching remains the same, the main thing is to follow the instructions described below:

1. Turn off the modem and remove all operator software
2. Install the HUAWEI DataCard Driver from the “Drivers” folder
