Huawei announces that the Huawei Mate X smartphone has received the world’s first 5G CE certificate issued by TÜV Rheinland, the world leader in independent expertise. This means that the smartphone successfully passed all the tests and became the world’s first 5G smartphone. It has now been approved by the Notification Body of the European Union.

Bruce Lee, vice president of Huawei Consumer BG’s Mobile Devices Division: “Compared to the previous generation of communication technologies and products, 5G technologies and devices have become more sophisticated. 5G certification test standards are constantly being improved. Through the cooperation of the Huawei and TÜV Rheinland teams, both sides have achieved significant success in the development of many key certification technologies. In the future, Huawei will continue to cooperate with TÜV Rheinland to certify communications equipment and to promote 5G terminals for commercial applications.

Stefan Kiszka, President of Wireless & IoT at TÜV Rheinland: “I am pleased that TÜV Rheinland has confirmed Huawei’s level of technological capability in 5G. This is good news for the industry and consumers. TÜV Rheinland has been working in wireless technology for many years. We plan to continue cooperating with Huawei in creating and promoting 5G technologies, bringing a new era of communication closer.

Huawei Mate X uses the company’s most advanced technologies and patents. The smartphone is equipped with the world’s first multi-mode Balong 5000 modem chipset. This system-on-chip (SoC) is made according to the 7-nm process. It supports 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G standards. For the first time in the industry, it delivers peak download speeds of up to 4.6 Gbps in the sub-6 GHz band and supports both autonomous (SA) and non-autonomous (NSA) 5G architecture. Four 5G antennas are built into the Huawei Mate X’s slim, foldable body. They provide smooth data transfer and confident 5G signal reception.

TÜV Rheinland is fully responsible for the CE certification process for Huawei 5G smartphones. This type of quality certification is mandatory in the European Union for imported and sold products. In addition, CE is a mandatory identifier for a product to enter the European market. This marking means that the products comply with a number of directives in the field of wireless communication, safety, electromagnetic compatibility, environmental protection and user health.

In order for the Mate X to pass all CE certification tests at all stages of development, design, engineering, and final inspection, all necessary rules and restrictions have been followed. As a result, the smartphone’s specifications are fully compliant with strict CE certification standards. It regulates compliance in terms of radio frequency range, electromagnetic compatibility, safety, specific electromagnetic energy absorption ratio (SAR) and other aspects.

The receipt of the world’s first 5G CE certificate for a smartphone lays a solid foundation for the widespread commercial use of fifth-generation mobile devices in the future. It also underscores once again HuaweiI’s leading position in the 5G field. The company will continue to actively develop this industry and provide a comfortable 5G user experience.
