Appearance and ergonomics

Huawei Honor Play has a trendy frameless design. Around the display there is a very thin frame, and at the top there is a relatively small “cutout”. Below the screen there is only the brand logo without any navigation buttons, which are virtual. The top of the matrix is covered with a sleek 2.5D glass.

The case itself is made of very strong and dense aluminum with a nice texture. On the back there are plastic strips for the antennas, which are cleverly masked in the area of the ends. This is also where the fingerprint scanner is located. And in the upper left corner there is a convex block with a dual camera, located vertically. Somewhat lower there is a flash. The bottom edge is equipped with a multimedia speaker, a USB Type-C connector and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The frankly elongated body fits comfortably in all hand sizes. At the same time, the cool metal creates a great feeling during use. The rounded corners also improve ergonomics. Available colors: blue, black and purple. Dimensions: height – 157.9 mm, width – 74.3 mm, thickness – 7.5 mm, weight – 176 g.

Iron and performance

Inside the smartphone Honor Play is a powerful eight-core Kirin 970 processor. The economical block of Cortex-A53 cores runs at 1800 MHz, but the rest of the productive Cortex-A73 cores – 2400 MHz. It is noteworthy that the built-in Mali-G72 MP12 graphics gas pedal is able to significantly overclock if necessary up to 60%.

Under the cover there is a lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 3750 mAh, which supports fast charging. The phone runs the current operating system Android 8.1 with the branded EMUI 8.2 shell. In the test AnTuTu this smartphone scores about 190,000 points. In games the device feels confident thanks to the overclocking GPU. Also an important role is played by artificial intelligence, which uses special algorithms for the best optimization of “heavy” applications.
