Code of honor 3: desperate measures: review

For some, a crisis is a blessing. Although the general panic has subsided somewhat, and the topic has ceased to be popular, cunning developers are trying to adapt global economic problems to their own needs. Everything “brilliant” is simple. The game does not need a full-fledged plot, introductory videos that inflame the player are also useless — just a black screen on which the essence of the events is described in white letters in ten lines is enough. I think it was possible to fit it into one: “because of the crisis, terrorists kill.” Dry, short, but succinct and eliminates additional work.

The semantic background writhes in agony and dies even before the first mission. What kind of terrorists? Why do they need all this? What’s the difference! The player is a dog. Guys in masks are bad. Fas!

However, it is no coincidence that they say that for an action movie, a well-developed plot is not as important as exciting gameplay and a high-quality technological component. Maybe there is something else to surprise?

Code of Honor 3: Desperate Measures

This is the beginning. Are you used to introductory videos? Never mind!

Frog legs

The French, apparently, were tired of monotonous stories about the brave American special forces (I was also tired, honestly), so they decided to “make” a game about their own, no less brave. But this is GIGN, unknown to us since childhood (from Counter-Strike
), and the Foreign Legion, which fought with terrorists in previous parts of the game.

The President suddenly realized that he could not cope with the bandits on his own, so he called on an elite detachment to help. The importance of the moment is also that for the first time in the history of the unit it operates in its home country. In past years, French warriors conquered the rebellious Zulus in hot Africa.

If you played Rainbow Six
and you can roughly imagine how more or less real behave
special forces, you will be amazed at the bravery of their French counterparts. The average Foreign Legion fighter prefers to act alone, killing dozens of bad guys. Someone tell Tom Clancy
, so that he no longer releases under his own name shameful games with planning, heartbeat detectors and silencers on guns. The main thing in a special operation is FAMAS and thousands of rounds of ammunition for it. So that.

The message, funny in its squalor, about the crisis, terrorists and the weapons they want to steal, continues with soporific gameplay. Dozens of guns, pockets full of cartridges and incredibly stupid opponents with whom you can play hide and seek while running around a small column. And that’s really all. Nine missions of the “single” are an endless series of searching for cards for doors, rescuing hostages and… all sorts of related actions surrounded by encephalitic enemies.

Call of Duty 4
captivated by its dynamics and entertainment (even though it was about American special forces), and Code of Honor 3
trying to hook only with national pride. This does not work for non-French people, unfortunately.

Code of Honor 3: Desperate Measures

The theater of the absurd begins with the release of the plane. Well, what kind of terrorist will emerge from captured equipment? A sniper will immediately take him down.

Mechanism

The second half of a shooter is technology. If the plot was not delivered, then it is necessary to somehow compensate with bright effects — they have been watching stupid action films for decades. This is also true for games. Wow, and very banal Crysis
pulled out ratings largely thanks to the graphics, but what do we have here?

Let’s begin the investigation. The first is models. Surprisingly good. People look like people, weapons (wow!) look like weapons. Up to Mirror’s Edge
, of course, doesn’t come close, but on the level of Far Cry
he holds himself confidently (which is already a shame, but what can you do, it’s a crisis).

Code of Honor 3: Desperate Measures

Terrorists are busy with their own affairs. Now they are shooting at the wall, but they are not paying attention to me.

Second — textures. Here awaits unexpected
a completely expected blow — at maximum settings, all surfaces in the game look as if the hero had been drinking alcohol for a week, and now with a dull look he is trying to look at the world around him. Everything is so bad that the old man id Tech 3
(aka Quake 3 Engine
, 1999) chuckles nastily, realizing his own superiority. Dirty and blurry textures really give the game away a cheap look, it’s hard to take it any seriously, but we’ll still complete the investigation.

Third – physics. Oh, this is a popular thing these days. Laurels F.E.A.R.
, Half-Life 2
and Mirror’s Edge
They do not allow developers to eat or sleep. They, at all costs, try to push the laws of the real world into their creations (sometimes successfully, as in Trine
). Code of Honor 3
cleverly pretends that breaking glass, crumbling columns and flying furniture are the work of the physics engine. But it’s worth taking a closer look and… it’s clear that all the destruction is prescribed in advance. Columns fall apart according to scripts, flying pieces of chairs are outlined by white stripes of glitched textures, glass breaks in the same way and leaves surprisingly smooth edges. Physics, you say? Then it would be worth paying attention to ballistics. Airplane curtains and wooden tables a couple of centimeters thick are not bulletproof. In real life, at least.

Code of Honor 3: Desperate Measures

The game manages to look pretty passable in the screenshots. The small details are simply not visible here, and, as you know, the devil lies in them.

***

Code of Honor 3
— a very weak game. Its virtues do not compensate for the lack of a plot, sluggish gameplay, outdated technical level and 7.5 gigabytes of hard drive space. By God, it’s better to take this place with something more useful. Seasonal House M. D.
, For example.

Pros:
insignificant.
Cons:
drawn out, stupid and generally outdated.

I haven’t played Destiny, so I don’t know what kind of crayfish it is. Yes, and we’re actually talking about a different game.

You can throw everyone out with a running start, I’ll surprise you 🙂 Sometimes I tried it myself, but more often I observed that even skilled guys fall for this. This feature in no way plays into the hands of either noobs or skilled guys, it just exists and everyone knows how to use it, at least I judge from what I see. If there are locations with a bridge and you start next to it, then it’s easier just not to step on the bridge 🙂 And yes, this needs to be fixed, because most people constantly just use this reset and spam guardbreak.
