The Chinese company Huawei, in cooperation with the Korean luxury eyewear brand Gentle Monster, developed and presented smart glasses, or rather a whole series with sunglasses and standard lenses. For the most part, the glasses act as a Bluetooth headset with interesting features, compared to competitors.
Huawei Gentle Monster Smart Eyewear is capable of taking calls, using the built-in virtual assistant and listening to music, using stereo speakers and dual microphones placed in the temples.
It also contains a 2,200 mAh battery, as well as antennas and a chipset. The microphones are equipped with noise cancellation, and the speakers are of the semi-open type, but the sound will only be heard by the user. There are no physical buttons. Operation is done with touch gestures. If necessary, the glasses can be connected to a mobile device via Bluetooth.
There is also water and dust protection IP67 and NFC module for charging in a special leather case. By the way, these are the world’s first smart glasses with this feature. No cameras, as in the Snapchat Spectacles, are provided, but by the time of release it is possible that such a model will appear.
According to the director of Huawei, Richard Yu, the cameras were not installed initially because of the possible violation of user privacy and others.
Prices and start of sales of Huawei Gentle Monster Smart Eyewear will be announced in July 2019.
