On May 4, sales of three new models of Honor smartphones begin in Russia, and the most affordable of them costs less than 7 thousand rubles. We’ll tell you why each of the new products is interesting.

Choosing among the most inexpensive smartphones also turns out to be the most difficult. One awkward move and you will end up with an outdated, unusable device. But you won’t be able to try all the models in search of “the one” — the budget will collapse.

Honor 9S is a current and well-balanced model. The smartphone is built on a MediaTek MT6762R processor, also known as Helios P22 and often found in much more expensive models. It has eight cores: four of them operate at 2 GHz, and the others at 1.5 GHz (this is how it balances performance and energy savings). The RAM in the Honor 9S costs 2 GB, and the storage capacity is 32 GB, but you can also install a microSD card. By the way, it won’t interfere with using two SIM cards — the slot here is not a hybrid one, there’s enough space for everyone.

Honor 9S does not have a fingerprint scanner, but you don’t have to enter a password every time — the smartphone supports facial recognition, and it takes less than a second.

The screen diagonal is 5.45 inches and the resolution is 1440×720. The 3020 mAh battery lasts for the whole day — once again we remember the energy efficiency of the processor.

It’s difficult to find something more or less similar in characteristics for 7 thousand rubles, and what you get will work on some ancient Android. Installed on Honor 9S. Magic UI 3.1.0 based on Android 10 is exactly the same as in older, flagship Honor models. The brand does not artificially limit the functionality of the shell.

The smartphone is available in three colors: black, red and blue. The body is made of matte plastic — it is practical, it does not get dirty at all.

This is an older device, and at first glance there are three things that make it stand out. In front there is a large 6.3-inch frameless screen, in the back there is a panel with a beautiful holographic pattern (Honor used to put this in more expensive models; but there is a black, strict version without “shimmer”) and a triple camera.

In addition to the “regular” camera, Honor 9A is equipped with a “wide lens” — this allows you to shoot entire buildings close up, fit the entire room in one frame, or take funny photos of faces. And the third module of the main camera of Honor 9A is a depth sensor, it helps to take portraits with beautiful background blur.

The processor in Honor 9A is the same as in 9S, but there is more memory: 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash. Plus, of course, support for microSD cards.

A huge 5000 mAh battery is enough for 32 hours of watching videos (don’t forget to take breaks to sleep!), but you can also share this energy with your neighbor: Honor 9A supports reverse charging via an OTG cable.

Honor 9A has an NFC module, so with this smartphone you can pay in stores (for example, through the Wallet application), top up a transport card, and quickly connect headphones.

And one more interesting feature that you rarely see these days: Honor 9A receives FM radio even without headphones connected. Usually they are necessary because they act as an antenna, and in the 9A such an antenna is built into the body. Later, the manufacturer plans to add support for Internet radio stations to the receiver application.

The senior model of the line is Honor 9C. Here is everything that can generally fit into a smartphone for 13 thousand rubles. The heart is the Kirin 710A processor (it has eight cores and supports GPU Turbo 3.0), 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and support for microSD memory cards.

In all surveys, users name the screen, battery and camera as the main characteristics — that’s what they focused on here.

The screen is frameless (90% of the front panel), 6.39 inches diagonal and a resolution of 1560×720 pixels, there is no “bang” on top — the front camera (8 MP) is embedded directly into the display.

The main camera of the Honor 9C is triple; like the 9A, it has a wide-angle module and a depth sensor. But the resolution of the main module is 48 megapixels. In addition to high-definition mode, it supports night photography and is also capable of recording video at 480 frames per second.

And finally, the battery: 4000 mAh — today this is the golden mean. This battery will be enough for a smartphone, for example, for almost nine hours of gaming.

The Honor 9C comes in two colors: Blue and Midnight Black — and in both variants, the back panel has a beautiful holographic texture.

All three models are equipped with a micro-USB connector. Those who use flagship models (what are you doing here, by the way?) may be surprised at this decision by the manufacturer. But in reality, this is more convenient for buyers of inexpensive smartphones: they have accumulated a stock of spare wires and do not need to buy new USB Type-C cables.

The entire new line comes without Google apps pre-installed. However, the manufacturer’s own service called AppGallery has already become the third largest mobile application store in the world. It has almost all the popular applications, and more are becoming available every day.
