This series is represented by three models: GT Classic, GT Active and GT Elegant. Gadgets differ in design and screen size. There are also differences in the dimensions and capacity of the battery.
“Huawei Watch GT” is very convenient for use when playing sports, as it is equipped with the following functions: measuring running speed; heart rate measurement; distance traveled; training time; climbs and determining the average pace of movement.
During sports activities, the watch collects data, on the basis of which it is subsequently able to calculate the amount of maximum oxygen consumption and how long it will take for full recovery. When using GPS tracking mode, this device can work autonomously for up to 22 hours. And if you don’t overload the watch with work, the gadget can go without recharging for two weeks.

Appearance
If to describe the design Honor Magic Watch 2 42 mm
only one word had to be used, it was elegance. The watch case is made of high-quality 316L stainless steel, and the entire front part is covered with 2.5D glass. There are no unnecessary inscriptions or distracting colored inserts or numbers. 
There are two buttons on the right side, the top one is responsible for the application menu, the bottom one is customizable, you can assign any function to it, the standard press opens workouts. Depending on the selected menu, the buttons may have other options, for example, adding or decreasing the volume in the player. 
The lower part of the case is made of high-quality black plastic. There are also four sensors (2 infrared and 2 optical), 2 magnetic contacts for charging and a small hole for a digital barometer. 
There are no complaints about the build quality; the design is solid and reliable. The watch is IP68 protected, which means it is completely dustproof and waterproof. Honor Magic Watch 2 42 mm
Suitable for swimming in pools and open water. 
The strap is made of elastomer, the hand under it does not sweat, there is no irritation or discomfort. However, if the need arises, thanks to the standard 20 mm mount, it can be easily replaced with any other. 
Traditionally, watch manufacturers consider the smaller version to be a more feminine option, and as a result, the straps for such models are made a little shorter. In the case of Honor Magic Watch 2 42 mm
the total length is 24 cm. On not the largest male hand, you have to use the outer holes. 
Honor Magic Watch 2 42 mm
equipped with a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels (326 ppi). The oleophobic coating is of high quality, your finger glides over it like a hockey player on ice, and it’s also quite difficult to get the screen dirty. The stroboscopic effect is not noticeable to the eye, but the camera catches it. 
The maximum brightness is at a very high level, even the burning summer sun cannot prevent notifications from being read. Overall, the natural black color, brightness, pixel density and colorful interface design create an excellent visual experience. 
And even when the watch goes into sleep mode, it does not lose its aesthetics and main function. This happens due to the Always on Display mode. In the settings, you can choose from 6 watch faces or completely disable this feature to save energy. 
Of course, it is possible to change the design of the main screen. In the “Health” application, the number of watch faces is measured in dozens, and more and more new variations of both arrow and digital themes are constantly being released. For those for whom this is not enough, there are special tools for creating your own options and catalogs of hundreds of options from fans of this device. 
Appearance and equipment
Honor Watch GS Pro comes in a black box with a rough texture. Inside there is a clock, a charging station, a USB – USB-C cable and documentation. The charger is made in the form of a small platform that conveniently attaches to the back of the watch. Wireless charging is not provided.
The front protective glass is flat, and the bezel protrudes so much that there are no concerns about safety. The strap fastenings are free, push-on. We received a copy in the “Grey Camouflage” color and I must admit, it was the one I liked the most at the announcement.
In addition to the color, it differs from others in the strap material: nylon is used here, not fluoroelastomer. It looks and feels good, but it’s not particularly friendly with water (simply wiping it with a towel after a shower won’t work: you’ll either have to wait for it to dry or feel the humidity). The width of the bracelet is 22 mm, and the length is adjustable between 140-210 mm.
There are a couple of buttons on the right side. You can “hang” almost any of the available functions on the bottom one, and the top one is responsible for going to the menu. The buttons are made of steel, have a faceted shape and are quite convenient to use.
On the back of the plastic side of the device there are sensors, service information and charging contacts. In addition, you can immediately find the speaker and microphone holes. Yes, you can call (to selected numbers) and receive calls directly from the watch, like rural James Bond. However, you shouldn’t rely on crystal clear sound.
The watch looks massive on the hand, and in the Gray Camouflage color it also looks militaristic. If the user’s wardrobe is dominated by formal style, this can become a problem.
It’s already difficult to surprise with promises of water protection of 5 ATM, so to complete the image of an “extreme watch,” Honor declares that the Watch GS Pro complies with the American military standard MIL-SDT-810G, which includes a whole assortment of tests for performance under shaking, humidity, temperature shock and other circumstances that are not the most pleasant for technology (and humans too). Of course, we will not verify the authenticity of these assurances, but it’s nice to know.
Impressions
I like this watch, 46 mm — this is a men’s model, which is made in a sports style. There are actually no differences from the same Huawei Watch GT2 Sport, the design and straps are slightly different, but in fact they are the same model. And this is a rare case when they even have the same price.
What smartwatches can you choose from in the market? In the Samsung line, this is the first generation Watch Active, their cost is 16,990 rubles.
More customization options, shorter operating time (1-3 days depending on the mode), small diameter, like the 42 mm MagicWatch 2. In my opinion, these are products of different classes; from a design point of view, the Watch Active’s gain is noticeable. I don’t consider the new second generation as a competitor, since the cost starts from 25 thousand rubles, for the same reason you don’t have to look at the Apple Watch.
The closest product in spirit is the Amazfit GTR watch; it also runs RTOS, provides similar operating time, and can do the same things, plus or minus.
But the cost of this watch is about 10-12 thousand rubles in Russia, with a diameter of 47 mm, this is clearly a more advantageous offer than the MagicWatch 2. The question of sports functions remains open; they are better implemented on Honor. But if you don’t need a watch for sports, then this option can be ignored.
The Russian cost of MagicWatch 2 is 12,990 and 13,990 rubles (42 and 46 mm). This is quite an adequate price, but it does not differ from the price of the same GT2, the cost is similar. Therefore, it is difficult to assume that MagicWatch 2 will become a bestseller, and the competitor in the form of products from Amazfit is very serious; these watches are selling well.
Calls, messages, watch faces
The call function is implemented similarly to what is found in Huawei GT 2 and MagicWatch. You can add several contacts to your watch, which you can call directly from the gadget menu. The sound is relatively loud, you can hear the interlocutor well.
As for messages, you still cannot reply to them, there are no templates either. Again, this feature is implemented in the same way as in other Huawei devices.
But the issue with the dials has finally been resolved. Now there are much more of them. True, when I first connected, GT 2 Pro found me about 200 “watchfaces”, and after a couple of days there were 20 left. Either the country filter somehow worked, or the “Health” software was updated. In general, I didn’t understand where the others disappeared to. You can see in the video what they were.
And in GT 2 Pro they implemented the Share OneHop function — transferring photos and watch faces by touching the phone clock. But it only works with Huawei devices. The company’s website says that the software includes remote photography control. However, I didn’t have such a thing. We probably need an EMUI gadget again.

Recently, the wearable electronics market has been gaining momentum, sales of various smart watches and fitness trackers are only increasing. For example, in 2020, Apple sold more watches than all Swiss manufacturers combined. In this review, I will talk about the HONOR MagicWatch 2 smartwatch. The HONOR/HUAWEI brands are among the leaders in the production and sale of such gadgets.

APPEARANCE
Available in two dial sizes, 42 and 46 mm. They differ in battery capacity, diagonal and screen resolution. I reviewed a watch with a diameter of 46 mm in brown and black colors.
If you make the screen on the watch constantly active, it is quite difficult to distinguish it from a regular watch. This way you won’t stand out among owners of classic watches.
The appearance of the watch is similar to the previous model. Large round screen with no dead spots (Hello Morotola!). A bezel with a tachymeter runs along the edge of the screen, but this element is painted on the watch body itself and cannot be physically interacted with. The case is steel, turning into fastenings for the strap. Two steel buttons that protrude far beyond the body. The top button enables the application menu when we are on the watch face, and correspondingly returns to the watch face when we are on any other screen. The bottom button opens the training menu, but it can be assigned to open any other application.
Between the buttons there is a speaker. On the left side you can see the microphone hole. The speaker is very loud. Of course, you can have a full conversation through this watch. Just keep in mind that others may witness your conversation. In this case, it is better to use a BT headset.
The reverse side of the watch case is made of matte black plastic. In the central part there is a heart rate sensor and contacts for connecting a charger.
Attaching the strap to the watch is standard, like most regular watches. You need to move the small lever to the side and you can change the strap. By the way, the straps themselves are 22 mm, which makes it possible to install any other similar strap. I had two strap options: brown leather with stitching and black silicone. By the way, watches with a leather strap come with a black strap. But with a watch with a silicone strap, there is no longer an additional strap.
With a leather strap, the watch looks more expensive than with a regular black silicone strap. But with a black strap, the watch looks monolithic. But this is purely a matter of taste. A watch with a black strap will suit any style of clothing and feels more comfortable on the hand (soft silicone).
Overall, the design of the watch makes a very good impression. They don’t look big even on a small hand, but a watch with a diameter of 42 mm is still better suited for the weaker sex.
The AMOLED screen of the watch is completely round. With a diameter of 1.39 inches, the resolution is 454×454, which is the largest in its class. The pixel density is 461 ppi, which is an indicator of the level of top smartphones! You won’t see any individual pixels here. I would immediately like to note the very high maximum brightness of the screen, this is good, since there is always room for adjustment. Again, on this type of screen we get a natural black color, which with high brightness gives us an excellent visual level of information perception in bright sunlight.
All icons, dials and fonts on this screen are clear with good rendering and visual perception. The front side of the screen is made in the form of a glass plate with a very smooth surface, there is an oleophobic coating. In general, we can say that the screen of the HONOR MagicWatch 2 is one of the best on the market.
HONOR MagicWatch 2 is protected from external factors according to the IP68 standard. With this watch you can easily swim in the pool, but it is better to avoid diving into sea water.
CONNECTION/SETTINGS/FUNCTIONALITY
To connect the watch to a smartphone, you need to install the Huawei Health application, available for iOS and Android. In the application itself, simply select your watch model from the proposed list and a connection will be established with your smartphone, everything is simple.
A few words about the application itself:
The main screen shows all your achievements: steps, heart rate, sleep, weight, stress.
The exercise item allows you to set the following parameters: running outside, running on a treadmill, walking, cycling, training. If you turn on the GPS tracker, your GPS logs will be recorded, which in turn are displayed on Google Map.
The “devices” item contains three sub-items. The “clock faces” item is responsible for the ability to load about 40 different types of the main screen with a clock. The “music” item allows you to download your music tracks via your smartphone to your watch (4GB available). The last item is responsible for fine-tuning the watch: constant heart rate monitoring, stress level test, notifications on/off, software updates, factory reset, etc.
The last fourth point “I” is responsible for entering your biometric data and managing notifications. The most convenient way to view information from the watch is in the application, since all the necessary information is displayed on the smartphone screen.
Now let’s go directly to the watch, look at the settings and functionality.
The main screen in the watch displays the selected watch faces. By long pressing on the screen, we have 12 watch faces to choose from (one is customizable). There are also about 40 watch faces available through the app. But using the «gallery» item you can upload any personal images (family photos, etc.)
When you press the top button on the main screen, a menu with installed applications appears: workouts, recordings, training status, heart rate, activity, sleep, stress, breathing exercises, calls, music, barometer, compass, messages, weather, stopwatch, timer, alarm clock, flashlight, phone search, settings. As you can see, everything you need is right there in an hour and you don’t even have to use the installed application on your smartphone.
When you swipe from top to bottom on the main screen, five quick options are available: do not disturb, screen on, phone search, alarm clock, settings.
When you swipe from left to right and vice versa, six installed widgets are available: watch faces, heart rate monitoring, stress, weather, music, steps.
Swiping from the bottom to the top opens a menu with messages. The watch can receive absolutely any notifications from your smartphone, but only in text format; you cannot view photos and videos. You should not forget to give access to those applications from which you want to receive notifications.
Separately in the watch settings you can: connect BT headphones, adjust the screen, sound, vibration, configure the bottom button to launch the selected application, do a full reset.
AUTONOMOUS OPERATION
At the beginning, I was skeptical about the battery life in these smart watches; I had a sad experience using the first such watch from Samsung, for example, the Samsung Gear S sometimes had to be charged twice a day.
But in our case the situation is completely different.
The battery in this watch is serious — 455 mAh. The watch is fully charged in less than an hour. For charging, a docking station in the form of a round tablet is used. The station itself is connected to the watch using a magnetic mount, the charge from the network is transmitted via a USB — Type-C connector.
The watch is equipped with a Kirin A1 chipset, built on energy-efficient Cortex-M7 cores that consume 10 mA/MHz, which is very little. The manufacturer claims that this watch can work for up to 14 days and it’s easy to believe.
My mode of use was as follows: activation of the watch screen when you raise your hand, constant monitoring of heart rate and stress, screen brightness in auto mode, sometimes connecting a GPS tracker. As a result, in 4 days the watch was discharged to only 78%. Even with the most intensive use, the watch can easily withstand a week of battery life.
CONCLUSIONS
HONOR MagicWatch 2 turned out to be a damn great gadget! The battery life is especially impressive and, in fact, at the moment this is the best smart watch for this parameter. The price is 12,990 rubles, which is a pretty good offer. It is also worth noting the fairly accurate counting of steps and heart rate. But how the sleep monitoring mode works is not entirely clear; in fact, I think it’s not particularly important. The screen deserves special attention; it is very bright and informative. The sound from the external speaker is loud, and the ability to have a conversation through the watch is one of the most important features for me.
IMPORTANT:
The watch has an NFC chip, but it is not activated at the moment. As soon as there are agreements with banks on the use of payment systems, everything will be activated programmatically.

In addition to appearance, the main difference lies in the dimensions and size of the screen, 1.2″ with a resolution of 390×390 for Honor Magic Watch 2 42 mm and 1.39″ with a resolution of 454×454 for 46 mm. Battery in the small version accordingly, it is also inferior — 215 mAh versus 455 mAh, respectively.

Just a few weeks after the release of the Huawei Watch GT fitness watch, Huawei sub-brand Honor introduced its version of the Honor Watch Magic fitness watch. As expected, it can be said to be the younger brother of the Watch GT. The Watch Magic costs slightly less, uses slightly different materials, has a smaller battery capacity and a smaller screen.
To increase battery life, both Huawei Watch GT and Watch Magic run their own new operating system, LiteOS. It is significantly inferior in some aspects to the same Wear OS operating system from Google. But it performs all the basic functions that we are used to seeing in watches focused on fitness and body control.
As already mentioned, these two watch models are very similar, both in appearance and in characteristics and capabilities. But as for the cost, the difference between them is decent. Huawei Watch GT will cost a potential buyer almost twice as much. Is it worth overpaying, and which ones to choose?

As you can see in the table, Huawei Watch GT and Honor Watch Magic have many of the same characteristics. The main differences are a more compact body of the Watch Magic, a larger and higher-resolution screen of the Watch GT, and almost half the battery life of the Honor watch. In terms of the quality of materials, the main difference is the ceramic frame around the screen of the Watch GT.
Otherwise, apart from the price, these two models are almost the same. They can assess sleep quality using TruSleep 2.0 technology, measure heart rate with TruSeen 3.0 technology, and monitor various activity modes, including swimming. Both models support NFC contactless payment with support for Huawei Pay and AliPay payment systems, which, unfortunately, are not supported everywhere.
Huawei Watch GT will appear on the European market in mid-November, and sales of Honor Watch Magic outside China are scheduled for early 2020. What conclusions can be drawn from a comparison of characteristics? Well, first of all, it is clear that the screen of the two Honor gadgets is the same, and the rest of the hardware has a lot in common. But the case is different and, most importantly, the battery capacity is significantly higher, almost twice as much.
Fitness functions, health
Essentially, this is a typical Huawei/Honor watch with almost no software changes. That is, the animation has not been fixed here — it still has a small number of frames and laggy scrolling of the list. Personally, I find this a little annoying. I’m ready to lose a couple of days of device operation, but get at least 20-25 fps animation without brakes.
