What is a hard reset

Hard reset – forced clearing of all information on the device to remove all installed programs, linked accounts, and user data. Hardware cleaning is most often required if there are any stutters or bugs in EMUI and Android in general.

A hard reset deletes all user data:

  • Linked accounts;
  • SMS messages;
  • Saved passwords;
  • Huawei account;
  • Photos, videos;
  • Audio files;
  • Programs, games;
  • Other information.

After using a hard reset, the phone turns into an out-of-the-box device. After this, you can re-enter Google Play, install the necessary programs and use the gadget as usual.

Power adapter and battery

The device is equipped with a meter-long USB-C cable and a Huawei SuperCharge power adapter with a maximum power of 22.5 W. With this power adapter, Honor 10X Lite naturally supports fast charging.

A completely discharged smartphone was charged to 45% in half an hour, and to 95% in 1 hour 15 minutes. The remaining 5% took another half an hour, meaning charging stopped after 1 hour 45 minutes.

Charging time:

  • 15 minutes — 23%,
  • 30 minutes — 45%,
  • 45 minutes — 67%,
  • 1 hour — 85%,
  • 1 hour 15 minutes — 95%.

In addition to the standard operating mode, there are three others: productive, energy-saving and ultra-economical.

To assess autonomy, we used the “Work 2.0 battery life” test of the PCMark for Android program.

Brightness is set to the center of the scale, flight mode is activated:

  • HD — 16 hours 8 minutes;
  • FHD — 15 hours 13 minutes.

Maximum brightness, mobile data and geolocation enabled:

  • HD — 8 hours 22 minutes;
  • FHD — 8 hours 4 minutes.

Important to know

Firmware rollback of Roborock S50 Xiaomi Mi is possible with or without root rights. Since there are different options, you will choose the best one for yourself. The manipulations are not easy, questions may arise. Popular:

  • You can install the previous MIUI firmware with the bootloader already locked — this is practically impossible from a technical point of view. You need to wipe the information through recovery, which is not possible with a locked bootloader.
  • Uploading firmware to the phone during a new update through the Recovery program — yes, it is possible. In operating mode, select the Install update zip window. After downloading the firmware, reset the device by rebooting. To complete the process with recovery actions will be enough.
  • On development firmware, rollbacks are possible or not — possible. There are no restrictions on versions — these can be developer, global, or Chinese versions. What you shouldn’t do is jump from global to developer.

Remember — if you have questions, it is better to ask them on the forum or contact the service, but do not break your smartphone. DIY restorations can be very expensive.

Videography

Videos can be shot with the main, wide-angle and front cameras.

Exposure and focus point can be adjusted and locked. In the options you can enable horizontal level.

Example 1. Sunset. The main camera shoots FullHD video at 30 or 60 frames per second. As far as the exposure is concerned, everything is fine. There are no gaps in shadows or highlights.

When comparing the video, you can note that at 60 frames per second there are no clear outlines of objects. Probably, with this shooting mode, minimal software processing of the original video data is performed.

The wide-angle camera shoots FullHD at 30 frames per second. Dynamic range and detail are noticeably lower than those of the main camera.

Example 2. Night photography. When shooting at night, the main camera shoots noticeably better at 30 fps than at 60 fps. The picture is sharper, more detailed and less noisy.

When comparing frames, it is clear that detail at 60 fps sags greatly.

The wide-angle camera produces video of mediocre quality in low light.

Time Lapse mode allows you to shoot time-lapses in HD resolution using the main or wide-angle camera. One minute of footage is compressed into 4 seconds.

Appearance

The smartphone case is made of plastic, the weight of the device is 167 grams (measured by the author). The back has a three-dimensional effect. There are three color options: black, blue and sky (with a gradient from blue to silver).

The dual camera module protrudes slightly. There is a fingerprint scanner in the center. The case thickness is 8.1 mm.

The light sensor is located on the bottom edge, there is also a status indicator, which takes some getting used to, but in the future this location does not cause inconvenience.

The frames around the screen are small: on the side — 1.5 mm, on the bottom — 4 mm.

The selfie camera is located at the center of the top in a waterdrop notch. The speaker is shifted towards the end face.

Combination tray: you can install two nano SIM cards or a memory card and one SIM card.

The back of the case is quite easily soiled and collects fingerprints. You can solve the problem using the transparent case included in the kit.

. How to properly roll back from MIUI 10 to MIUI 9

It is known that on some devices, it is impossible to roll back from MIUI 10 to an older version of MIUI, since Xiaomi has introduced a ban on this procedure. It is also known that this ban. Anti Roll-back (ARB)
.related to Android 8 Pie and Google’s new security policy. Perhaps in the near future, such a ban will already be on all new devices with Android 8 (or later), regardless of the manufacturer.

For Xiaomi smartphones, this information became relevant after the 2nd half of 2020, with the advent of new devices with Android 8
. Unfortunately, Xiaomi representatives did not immediately make an official statement about this. The news spread across the Internet early. after the first bricks
. Moreover, the ban was introduced at the beta testing stage, which is generally unpleasant nonsense. After all, lags, slowdowns and incorrect operation in trial firmware have not been canceled, and forcing users to put up with all this is not quite the right step on the part of the company.

But let’s return to the topic and make an important note

. If you have a smartphone with MIUI 10 based on Android 8
(.or newer), then do not try to roll back using the methods described below.
Get a brick.

Here is A list of smartphones on which the Anti-rollback mechanism has already been introduced
, as well as instructions for Checking the ARB (Anti Roll-back) status
. In other cases, you can try, but the likelihood that something will go wrong has not been canceled
.

Were you able to use MIUI 9? . Share your advice in the comments, maybe it will help others!

Step 1: Preparatory procedures

If you decide to roll back the MIUI firmware yourself, you should never skip the preparatory procedures stage
. First, let’s figure out exactly what operations will have to be done to flash the firmware.

In fact, there is nothing complicated or special. We need to return the phone to its original state,
removing all traces of the new version on it, and then installing the old firmware in the standard way. There are three options: through “Three points”, Fastboot
and Recovery
.

First of all, we charge the mobile device. The optimal amount of charge is 70-90%, otherwise the device may turn off during the update process, which can lead to bricking.

Next we make a backup
, because when you roll back to the old version of MIUI, absolutely all data is erased from the smartphone, starting with the pictures taken and ending with the operating system settings. Please note that the resulting backup copies must under no circumstances be stored in the internal memory of the phone

, since they will disappear at the first wipe/reset.

Step 2: Save a backup copy to your computer

As we noted above, there is no point in keeping backup materials on the phone itself. Immediately after the backup is made, use external storage
. They can be flash drives, memory cards (be sure to remove them before resetting/wiping) or a personal computer. We will focus on the last basic option.

Take a USB cable, connect
using connectors and providing the PC with access to smartphone data. Through the explorer we penetrate the memory of the mobile device, we find the backup copies made and simply copy them to the computer
.

There is also an option to make a complete backup of all data on your Xiaomi smartphone using the official Mi Pc Suite program

, here is our video
. Done, your information is now safe.

Step 3: Factory reset

In some cases, users are able to immediately upgrade to the previous firmware version
, performing only a reset. But not everyone is so lucky, especially if the current version of MIUI has been running on the smartphone for a long time.

So, find the “Settings” shortcut on the main screen, scroll down the page, click “ Advanced settings
» Next, click “ Backup and reset
» We find ourselves in a separate item, where we select the option “ Reset settings
»

The mobile device will reboot, and you will receive the phone in a “factory” state, in which absolutely all information entered by the user will be absent (settings, applications, contacts, photos, videos, audio and other materials), so it is so important to do this first backup If you couldn’t roll back the update this easy way, read on.

Step 4: Performing full wipes

Unfortunately, a factory reset is not enough to completely erase all traces of the previous MIUI firmware from your mobile device
. It is necessary to remove shell data from the “bowels” of the system itself, and TWRP Recovery will help with this.

There are two options to enter utility mode. The first one is the simplest: go to “ Settings
» and look for the item » System update
» In the upper corner there should be “ three dots
«, which requires entering recovery.

If the inscription “ Reboot in Recovery mode
» is missing, let’s try another method. Turn off the mobile device, wait about a minute for all processes to stop and press the power key
and volume increase
.

The corresponding message should appear on the screen and various functions presented in the form of tiles. We are looking for the option “ Wipe Data
«, since it will completely clean the mobile device in a matter of minutes, thereby preparing it for installing the previous version of MIUI. Finally, reboot the device and proceed to the next steps.

Step 5: Finding the correct version to install the previous MIUI

It should be understood that the rollback is simply a flashing
, which uses an older version. Accordingly, you need to find and download this version. Everything here is extremely simple: visit official MIUI website
— en.miui.com/download.html

, find your device and download the file.

How to roll back the firmware on Xiaomi ..Return from MIUI 10 to MIUI 9 .. - MIUI tips - Mi Community - Xiaomi

Be careful! Only firmware designed exclusively for your model will work

. For example, the owner of a Redmi 4X smartphone is strictly prohibited from downloading the version developed for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X.

How to roll back the firmware on Xiaomi ..Return from MIUI 10 to MIUI 9 .. - MIUI tips - Mi Community - Xiaomi

Of course, there are firmware versions designed for several devices at once, but most often they are installed with great difficulty, and only with the help of special programs.

As soon as the firmware file is downloaded, be sure to rename it to
« update.zip
» File extension .zip
we don’t change. Next, we again resort to using a USB cable and transfer the shell to the smartphone’s memory.

Step 6: Rollback the update on Xiaomi without root rights

In fact, almost all manipulations with firmware do not require root rights, but unlocked bootloader
— Bootloader

mandatory condition
, if you do not use flashing through » three dots
»

OTA function is a great option for beginners
and users who are unsure of their technical knowledge. But it doesn’t always work. Well, let’s try.

. Rollback through “three points” (not 100% option)

Again, you can’t do without “ Settings
» We visit the section “ About the phone
» – « System update
» On the main screen we see data about the current firmware, for example, MIUI 9, which needs to be rolled back to version 8.

Call up an additional menu using the ellipsis, where we click “ Select firmware file
» Now, using the built-in system explorer, we indicate the path to the previously downloaded archive.

The system asks for permission to reboot, we agree.

And here an unsolvable problem may arise in the form of the inscription “ It is impossible to update to the previous version
» It appears because the official update represents a transition to a newer build, and not vice versa. If such a problem arises, we use other options.

. Return to the old Stable firmware using the Developer version

If you don’t have superuser rights, this is another option worth trying! If you have a stable version, then do the following (if it is a weekly version, then vice versa):

.1. Download Developer
firmware (look at the update history).
.2. We install it through the update menu.
.3. We carry out the initial settings and connect Wi-Fi.
.4. Download the required one Stable
version.
.5. We install it through the update menu.
.6. If it works, we rejoice; if not, we move on to the next option.

. Rollback via Fastboot and Recovery (almost 100% option)

We have already written about these procedures
. You can also read official instructions
presented on official website
. But let’s say in advance that you need to install the program Mi Flash
, have access to a computer
and unlocked bootloader
. Since these methods are actually official, the chance of a successful rollback is quite high.

And again I remind you that you carry out all manipulations with your device at your own peril and risk, and you bear full responsibility for your actions.

.

Video instruction: returning from MIUI 9 to MIUI 8

P. S.

. I would like to add that this review of methods and instructions is posted for informational purposes. You shouldn’t try to use them right away if you don’t have experience and

necessary knowledge on stitching. This is not a game and these instructions alone do not guarantee successful firmware installation. No instruction can provide all the details and limitations. There is always a risk of turning your device into a brick, and the lack of experience, necessary knowledge and up-to-date information about the limitations of a certain device/certain firmware only exacerbates this risk.

Were you able to try MIUI 9? . Share your advice in the comments, maybe it will help others!

I wish you all good luck and a Happy New Year! .

How to downgrade from android 10

  • Enable developer mode on your smartphone. To do this, go to the “About phone” section and click on the “Build number” item 7 times
  • Prepare the image. Use an archiver to extract the .tgz file and then additionally extract the .tar file. The result is a folder with several subdirectories
  • Copy all the files and paste them into the Android SDK folder. It should be in Program Files (x86) if you have Windows
  • There will be two files in this folder. Windows PC owners should run the one with the gear icon, and Linux users should run flash-all.sh
  • A window will open informing you that the installation has started. During this process, do not under any circumstances disconnect the device from the PC
  • Once completed, your smartphone or tablet will automatically reboot and will be running Android 9 Pie

How to properly perform a full reset on Honor and Huawei

Huawei gadgets run on the Android operating system, so there will be no difficulties in returning to factory settings. All devices have approximately the same conditions for resetting data.

There are several ways to return to the initial state:

  1. Through settings
    , where the user can choose to delete all information or only personal data.
  2. Using Recovery
    – a mod for restoring a smartphone. The recovery menu is opened using combinations of the volume and power buttons.
  3. Via HiSuite program
    – a proprietary program from Huawei on a computer for controlling an Android device.

Regardless of which reset method is used, it is impossible to restore data after it has been completely deleted, so before you reset your phone to factory settings, be sure to save your accounts, passwords, photos and videos.

When to rollback

Why is the firmware update rollback function useful:

  • If a notification in the ANR format “The application is not responding…” often pops up;
  • Wi-Fi module does not receive signal or does not connect to access points;
  • The device does not start at all after the update;
  • The battery drains much faster than before;
  • “The Camera application has stopped” — you can’t take a photo, you have to constantly restart it;
  • Requests for a security code from Mi Account and requests to send a message to the developer server began to appear.

First of all, this includes all problems in the functioning of the device if there is a connection between changes in the operating system release and their occurrence.

Rollback from emui 10 to emui 9

To roll back the EMUI update on Huawei and Honor:

  • open main settings and Huawei via the desktop icon or notification bar;
  • go to the description and characteristics of the model section;
  • Click on the item with the build number 10 times;
  • install HiSuite software on both your smartphone and PC (or laptop);
  • establish contact between devices using a working USB cable;
  • click on updates in the program;
  • select the desired version;
  • click on the installation process;
  • read the instructions and agree.

We emphasize that during installation of the shell, you cannot interrupt the contact between the phone and the computer. Check the functionality of cables and USB ports in advance.

Rollback from emui 9 to emui 8

Having finished with the preparatory steps, you can proceed to installing the firmware. To do this you will need:

  1. install the HiSuite program on your smartphone and computer (laptop);
  2. run the utility and connect the phone to the PC, having previously activated the “USB debugging” mode;
  3. make sure in HiSuite that the gadget is recognized and connected;
  4. press the “update” button;
  5. after a message about using the latest version appears, switch to the tab with a list of previous ones;
  6. select the option you like and start the download process;
  7. agree with the warnings and follow the instructions of the program.

It is important to emphasize that during installation it is prohibited to disconnect the smartphone from the PC, since such actions will lead to malfunctions. If the gadget breaks down during the firmware update, Huawei owners lose the right to warranty service. As a result, the repair will be paid and will require additional expenses, therefore, when starting to reflash, you need to correctly assess your own skills and not rush into making decisions.

Rollback using standard means without root and unlocked bootloader

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py9W_Jtf00c

Required software:

This method is suitable for devices with a locked bootloader, but does not allow you to switch from MIUI 10 to MIUI 9. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Restore the device to factory settings using standard recovery. You can read about how to do this in the article “ Factory reset Xiaomi Redmi 4x”
    . These instructions are also suitable for other smartphones
  2. Rename the developer firmware to “update.zip” and save it to the phone’s internal memory.
  3. Open the Update application and click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner.
  4. Select “Select firmware file” from the drop-down menu.
  5. Specify the saved file and wait for the flashing to complete.
  6. Follow steps No. 2-5 with the stable firmware file.

Flashing from fastboot

Required software:

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Install the drivers and unpack the archive with the utility and firmware into different folders in the root of the local PC drive. The name should not contain spaces or letters of the Russian alphabet.
  2. Transfer 4 files from the folder with the utility to the folder with the firmware.
  3. Launch the command line by pressing the Win R keys on your keyboard and entering “cmd.exe” (without quotes) in the window that appears.
  4. Drag the flash_all.bat file into the window that opens and press Enter.
  5. Wait for the flashing to complete.

Installing a previous firmware version is a simple but dangerous procedure. Any error or carelessness of the user can turn a barely working device into a non-bootable “brick”.

Technical and software implementation

The Honor 10 lite smartphone is based on a modern Kirin 710 chip with GPU Turbo support. The more expensive Honor 8X model is assembled based on the same processor.

The smartphone runs on Android 9 and EMUI 9.0.1 shell with flexible interface settings. During testing there were 4 updates.

The amount of RAM is 3 GB. Storage memory size: 32 or 64 GB. The memory can be expanded using microSD cards up to 512 GB; installation of applications on the memory card is not provided.

Face and fingerprint unlocking is available. The scanner can be used as a control button. There is an NFC module.

Both SIM cards support 4G. The Wi-Fi module only operates in the 2.4 GHz band.

In addition to the normal operating mode, there is a productive mode, an energy saving mode and an ultra-economical “Ultra” mode.

Points

Scheme of work on the “Three points”:

  • Select “Settings”, “Phone” and “Update system”.
  • On the main screen, copy information about the current firmware version — for example, it is nine, which is rolled back to eight.
  • Call up an additional menu through the ellipses, click “Firmware file”.
  • Use the built-in guide to write the path.
  • Give your consent to the reboot offered by the system.

If everything is fine, the operation will be successful, if not, expect the message “Unable to update completely.” The problem is that the official software update involves transitions to new builds, but not back. This problem can be fixed — return to the old firmware via the Developer version.

Photo camera

The main resolutions of the main camera are 8 10 13 MP. The focal length of the first lens is 26 mm, aperture f/18. Thanks to the AI function that coordinates photo sensors, automatic shooting modes are available to the user.

  • “Night” — shooting mode in low light conditions.
  • “Portrait” — allows you to take high-quality pictures
  • “Aperture” — increases the aperture and depth of field of the image.
  • “Video” — recording high quality video clips

Intelligent modules provide limitless photography possibilities in Pro mode. An experienced user can manually adjust the camera and take a professional photo by changing the light sensitivity, aperture and shutter speed.

Как откатить прошивку MIUI на Xiaomi до предыдущей -

Как откатить прошивку MIUI на Xiaomi до предыдущей -

Pro mode offers the use of a panorama effect, time lapse, mask, music and background overlay. In the camera interface, you can enable the auxiliary grid and quickly launch the application. You can open additional menus by swiping to the right.

The selfie camera uses a 24MP sensor, with a focal length of 26mm, similar to the head camera. Despite the smaller aperture, f/2.0 is a powerful tool for creating portraits. If you want to blur the background, you need to enable the corresponding function.

Photography

The main camera shoots in three resolutions, which differ in aspect ratio. The basic 4:3 frame has a resolution of 12 megapixels, the remaining options (7.2 and 9 megapixels) are obtained after cropping it. They are no different in quality.

The wide-angle camera is slightly inferior in detail and dynamic range to the main camera.

The “Aperture” mode allows you to blur the background of objects located at a distance of up to 2 meters by controlling the depth of field from F0.95 to F16. The desired aperture and focus point can be set after shooting (during editing).

The “Light” mode superimposes light sources on the photo, which allows you to create interesting works.

Super Macro mode works with a macro camera. The optimal distance to the object is about 4 cm. The resolution of the images is small — 2 megapixels. The ISO limit is 640 units. It would be useful to use flash lighting.

The “Night” mode, by overlaying exposures, expands the dynamic range of the image. The amount of detail in both the shadows and highlights of the frame increases.

Step 1: preparatory procedures

If you decide to roll back the MIUI firmware yourself, you should never skip the preparatory procedures stage. First, let’s figure out exactly what operations will have to be done to flash the firmware.

In fact, there is nothing complicated or special. We need to return the phone to its original state, removing all traces of the new version on it, and then install the old firmware in the standard way.

  1. First of all, we charge the mobile device. The optimal amount of charge is 70-90%, otherwise the device may suddenly turn off during the update process, which often leads to bricking.
  2. Next we make a backup
    , because when you roll back to the old version of MIUI, absolutely all data is erased from the smartphone, starting with the pictures taken and ending with the operating system settings.

Please note that the resulting backup copies should under no circumstances be stored in the internal memory of the phone, as they will disappear with the first wipe.

Step 2: Save the backup to your computer

As we noted above, there is no point in keeping backup materials on the phone itself. Immediately after making a backup, use external storage. They can be flash drives, memory cards (be sure to remove them) or a personal computer. We will focus on the last basic option.

  1. Take a USB cable, connect to the computer
    using connectors and provide access to smartphone data.
  2. Through Explorer, we go into the memory of the mobile device, find the backups made and simply copy them to any hard drive.
  3. There is also an option to make a full backup
    all data from Xiaomi using the official Mi PC Suite program, here is our video
    .

Step 3: Factory reset

In some cases, users are able to immediately switch to the previous firmware version by performing only a reset. But not everyone is so lucky, especially if the current version of MIUI has been running on the smartphone for a long time.

  1. So, we find the shortcut “Settings” on the main screen
    .
  2. Scroll down the page, click “Advanced settings”
    .
  3. Next, click “Backup and reset”
    .
  4. We find ourselves in a separate item, where we select the option “Reset settings”
    .

The mobile device will reboot, and you will receive the phone in “factory” form, where absolutely all materials are missing, which is why it is so important to make a backup on time. If you couldn’t roll back the update this easy way, read on.

Step 4: complete data deletion

Unfortunately, a factory reset is not enough to completely erase all traces of the previous MIUI firmware from your mobile device. It is necessary to remove shell data from the “bowels” of the system itself, and TWRP Recovery will help with this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig0PLWvbdqk

There are two options to enter utility mode. The first is the simplest: go to “Settings” and look for the “System Update” item. There should be three dots in the upper corner, indicating the entrance to the recovery.

Finally, reboot the device and proceed to the next steps.

Step 5: Find the correct version to install the previous miui

It should be understood that a rollback is simply a flashing using an older version. Accordingly, you need to find and download this version. Everything here is extremely simple: visit the official MIUI website with Fastboot firmware, find your device and download the file.

Be careful! Only firmware designed exclusively for your model will work. For example, the owner of a Redmi 4X smartphone is strictly prohibited from downloading the version developed for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X.

As soon as the firmware file is downloaded, be sure to rename it to “update.zip”. We do not touch the permission of the archive itself. Next, we again resort to using a USB cable and transfer the shell to the smartphone’s memory.

If this point is still unclear, we recommend that you read a separate article on the topic of finding the correct firmware for your phone model.

The design of the Honor 10X Lite smartphone looks fresh due to the placement of the fingerprint scanner on the end edge and the front camera embedded in the screen.

The bright IPS screen has FullHD resolution and a large diagonal of 6.67 inches. Good autonomy of the smartphone is provided by a capacious 5000 mAh battery and support for fast charging. The 22.5 W power adapter can charge the device by 45% in half an hour.

The smartphone’s arsenal is complemented by an NFC module, 128 GB of on-board memory, a 3.5 mm audio jack, a tray for simultaneous placement of two SIM cards and a memory card.

Photographic capabilities are represented by four rear cameras, their characteristics are quite consistent with the price category of the device. With a conscious approach to shooting, cameras can take decent pictures.

The main camera shoots well up to ISO 800, shooting at 48 megapixels adds detail, but it is wise to use this mode at minimum ISO values. The wide-angle camera is suitable for daytime shots.

If there is insufficient lighting, you should switch to night mode.

Video from the main camera at 60 frames per second is noticeably inferior to video with 30 frames per second in terms of edge clarity. At night, the difference in quality becomes even more noticeable — video with 30 frames per second is sharper, clearer and with less noise.

One of the features that you need to pay attention to when choosing is the lack of Google services.

In general, the Honor 10X Lite smartphone will definitely find its place in the mid-price segment due to its performance and characteristics.
