Medal of honor
The setting of the new part, made on the basis of the gameplay features of all previous ones, is not the Second World War, but events in Afghanistan. The events of the game shed light on the current state of affairs in many ways and tell about the real war in Afghanistan. The main character takes part in large-scale and stealth battles. First Person Shooter
Medal of Honor
— shows a real war, not a simple drama.
The single-player mode opens up the Unity Engine 3. The multiplayer component opens up the FrostBite Engine, provided that the online and offline games were made by different developers.
Four sailors go to meet Tariq, a combatant who has information because he is an intelligence officer selling data. The events take place in 2001. The American organization BMC sends fourth fighters there, but their operation fails.
The main character, a ranger of the first battalion from the rapid response group, Dante Adams, visits several chapters of the plot, in which he gets acquainted with the Navy Seals unit, and later penetrates Gardez, a city required for the script. Constant battles with Chechens and other militants, the search for Tariq, traps from terrorists — all these are real events in which the main character takes a direct part in collaboration with other special units.
The developers went too far to add realism to the game, so they turned to the US Army. Actual circumstances were realized during the seizure of territories, the release of hostages, and raids on shelters. In a single-player game, you can control vehicles: jeeps, helicopters, ATVs.
Battles in a multiplayer game involve the use of vehicles and game units divided into classes. Battles in open areas with accompanying ranks are the basis of online gameplay.

What we know about Medal of Honor
2020 release? More recently, we took the developers at their word when they promised to transfer military operations to modern realities, and, no less, prophesied the degeneration of the series. In the end, the masters from DICE took on the creation of the game (or rather, its multiplayer component)
, who gave us the amazing Battlefield: Bad Company 2
. Now, thanks to the ongoing beta test, we were able to lift the burqa and see what Medal of Honor looks like today
.
Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
Yes, yes, this is exactly where the hard times will take us. Well, it is not surprising — over the past 32 years, there has been a civil war in the country, and interested states periodically send their troops there. Maybe on the single Medal of Honor (2020)
Some kind of storyline full of drama and surprises awaits us, but since only the multiplayer mode was opened for the beta test, we will talk about it.
Looks like DICE
the popularity of the brainchild Infinity Ward did not let me sleep peacefully
, so they decided to make their own Modern Warfare 2
with blackjack and I send… mine, in general. But since in Bad Company 2
So many successful ideas have already been implemented that it would be a sin to miss; the developers, without hesitation, took and combined two modern multiplayer hits together. It would seem that the idea is the most successful — you can once and for all stop numerous disputes on the forums about which game is better, and lure fans of both projects to your servers. But we all know that the idea is an idea, but the implementation should not lag behind either.
The same games, but for some reason in profile
For now, we have two maps and two game modes available for close examination. And although the cards are called differently, I called one of them Modern Warfare 2
, and the second Bad Company 2
. The first is a residential area with many faceless houses, a la Favela or Karachi. Here, just like in CoD, we have to play in Team Battle mode, either taking the side of the Americans or the Afghan terrorists opposing them with all their might. For a kill, however, they only give 10 points, but there are also traditional bonuses, for example, for a hit in the head or a hit with a knife. In addition, there is something like a reward system for a series of kills — having shot a certain number of enemies (or rather, having accumulated a certain number of points for eliminating them), we will be able to carry out, for example, mortar or rocket strikes. True, from the very beginning, the conditions for executing the series are not so obvious (you don’t immediately notice these numbers in the lower right corner of the screen, and their relationship with what is happening), and in the future, the authors did not notice the possibility of somehow setting up this very series.
On the map under the code name Bad Company 2
, as you probably already guessed, the familiar Assault mode awaits us, when we either defend our point or attack the enemy’s point, trying to plant a charge on it. The terrain here resembles any “desert” location from Battlefield
, though rather a stripped-down version of it. Combat means and the scale of the territory for military operations here clearly contradict each other. Here we have “Bradley” at our disposal, which at first causes a lot of delight and sets us up for decisive action. But in trying to carry out these very actions, we are faced with depressing realities — our armored personnel carrier constantly gets stuck here and there, trying to drive along narrow mountain paths, carefully, deliberately and out of spite, paved with even rows of pebbles. So after some time, the driver of a supposedly powerful combat vehicle realizes that he is a very easy target not only for RPGs, but for everyone in general.
By the way, about RPGs. Or rather, about classes. Yes, they are in Medal of Honor
, of course, are present, but only also in the form of some incomprehensibly synthesized ideas. Class three. To put it simply and to make it sound familiar, this is an attack aircraft, an engineer and a reconnaissance officer. But other than weapons, these classes are no different. They don’t have unique abilities like in Bad Company 2
. Even though an engineer has an RPG, he cannot repair an armored personnel carrier, and although a scout has a sniper rifle in his hands, he does not scatter motion sensors and does not cause mortar strikes. And you can’t create a class for yourself, like in CoD — all we can do is open new guns and various gadgets for them. Just for fun, you can even organize a shotgun with a red dot sight for yourself. But some kind of sad laughter comes out…
It turned out that there is not much point in scattering cartridges and healing comrades here — on the map you can find boxes with cartridges, next to which there is also a quick recovery of hp. True, sometimes, for example, when attacking a point, such a cartridge and medical station is located on enemy territory, which is not good, you will agree.
Perhaps all the hardships of military everyday life and the shortcomings of the game mixed with glitches were easier to bear if we felt the shoulder of a faithful comrade nearby. After all, some modes Modern Warfare 2
and certainly all Bad Company 2
are based on team play. B Medal of Honor
playing friends are not indicated in any way on the map — you can’t gather in groups (there is no lobby as such, we just join a playing friend), there is also no way to respawn near your teammates (by the way, the principle of choosing a place to respawn also turned out to be a closely guarded secret).
True, you can still keep track of your brothers in arms in the Career tab. There is a general table of player achievements — in it you can find yourself or your friend. Otherwise, the system of awards and achievements is practically no different from the statistics we are used to in Battlefield
.
***
It remains unclear who the target audience of the project is Medal of Honor
. Who in their right mind and bright memory would trade the arcade and dynamics Modern Warfare 2
or realism and tactics Bad Company 2
to something that is rather a castration of the first and second, rather than their harmonious union? The game, in fact, has nothing of its own, nothing special that it can boast of. All gameplay ideas are secondary, and their implementation leaves much to be desired. The graphics and sound are inferior to both prototypes (the death animation is simply terrible), but we will attribute the existing glitches in the game to the fact that this is still a beta (for example, the inability to exit the game without first appearing on the map , or inaccessible options menu during battle).
The question is, in fact, why it was necessary to declare that Medal of Honor
will it almost be a rebirth of the series? Of course, having exchanged the Second World War for modern realities, the project was faced with the fact that two heavyweights had already entered into a duel on this field. And instead of giving them real competition by offering some completely different third option, DICE
We took the path of least resistance — we again prepared a dish called Battlefield: Bad Company 2
, pouring sauce over it Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
. Food is served, sit down and eat, please!
Danger close
The five-hour Medal of Honor campaign is a few unusual days in the life of Tier 1 special forces in Afghanistan. Unusual only because, as a result of unsuccessful actions by the command, several elite special forces soldiers are captured by the Taliban. Tens and hundreds of militants, every now and then crawling out of the mountains, do not belong to the category of surprises — they are a daily routine.
As mentioned above, the developers paid special attention to the plot, so finding flaws in it seems to be a rather difficult task. As a rule, having received some task before the start of a mission, the fighters slowly move towards the goal and carry out the assignment with the support of another squad.
