Introductions
Not so long ago the site published a review of the current line of models Xiaomi.
In the comments to it, you could see a request for similar material on the Huawei line of devices. Obviously, the Chinese manufacturers are in vain chasing the maximum variety of the assortment to the detriment of the normal perception of the line by the customers. Nevertheless, let’s try to understand the smartphones offered by the brand.
A couple of words about where the two brands under which the smartphones produced by Huawei are sold come from. Perhaps an analogy with the automotive world and the well-known allocation of certain brands from the portfolios of large car companies to provide sales to a specific target audience appeals here.
Similarly, the Honor brand is an attempt for the company to reach out to a younger clientele with quite specific requirements for a smartphone. Under this brand, devices with a good price-to-performance ratio are sold, and the calculation was originally made for online sales, but now Honor devices are sold in retail on a par with Huawei phones.
However, precisely in order to simplify the understanding of what Huawei currently offers in the market, I suggest not dividing the products into two brands. In my opinion, this division is of a marketing nature and can only confuse the potential buyer. For us, as reasonable consumers, it is more important to get the right price/performance ratio, not the nameplate (or not? ).
So, instead of the proposed division by the company into brands, let’s divide smartphones into standard price segments – the budget segment, the middle segment and the flagship machines.
Appearance and ergonomics
Huawei Nova 2i stands out with its elegant and modern design. The front of the device is covered with 2.5D glass, and the screen itself takes up almost 77% of the entire front panel area. At the same time the frames on the right and left are almost not visible, because their size is minimal. On the rear metal side there is a fingerprint scanner and a block with a dual camera covered with protective glass.
The appearance of the device is dominated by soft and curved lines, as well as rounded edges. As for the aluminum body, it is implemented monolithic and durable. In terms of design, the smartphone simultaneously strives for sophistication and practicality. The gadget looks really premium, but without unnecessary details.
Iron and performance
Inside the Nova 2i smartphone is an eight-core (Cortex-A53) Kirin 659 processor. Four cores run at an economical frequency of 1700 MHz, and the other faster – 2360 MHz. Gas pedal Mali-T830 MP2 deals with the graphics part. The user has about 64 GB of free space with the possibility of expanding memory up to 256 GB. The amount of RAM is 4 GB.
Immediately after unpacking, the device runs Android 7.0 with EMUI 5.1. The AnTuTu test shows pretty good results – about 65000 points. It is possible to confidently run games on medium graphics settings. In everyday tasks there are no problems with performance, but the device seriously heats up after prolonged use.
